Chiropractic Manipulation / Adjustment

Sometimes, you may find it difficult to perform everyday activities such as turning your neck to reverse out of your driveway or bending down to tie your shoes. Chiropractic manipulation is a form of manual therapy in which the doctor uses a high velocity, low amplitude thrust to provide better range of motion to the joints that are contributing to dysfunction. The technique is comfortable for the patient and often provides immediate and noticeable improvements in range of motion.  Other lower force techniques can be equally as effective in restoring joint mobility.  These mobilization techniques are utilized according the patients comfort level.  If you are finding everyday tasks are becoming more difficult, call our office for an evaluation.

Graston Technique

Soft tissue injuries  such as muscle strains, trigger points and general soreness can lead to altered biomechanics and a decreased ability to perform the activities that you love.  Graston Technique® therapy is successful in effectively treating all soft tissue conditions, whether they are acute, chronic or post-surgical. Utilizing stainless steel tools applied to the area of concern, Graston Technique enables the treatment of such injuries during the rehabilitation process that allows for faster recovery so you can get back to enjoying life again.

SFMA - Selective Functional Movement Assessment

Have you ever received treatment only to return again and again for the same issue? SFMA is a functional movement screen designed to objectively find the underlying cause for pain or dysfunction.  This movement assessment is a used worldwide. It can be applied to a the average prerson trying to get through their day with minimal discomfort, elite pro athletes, and everyone in between. Too often, practitioners perform the same treatment again and again without resolving the root cause of the patient's pain.  The SFMA allows the practitioner to effectively assess, diagnose and treat all areas of dysfunction contributing to the patient's acute and chronic pain, as well as to find out why an injury occurred in the first place.

MDT - Mechanical Diagnosis Therapy - Mckenzie Method

Many times, immediate relief can be achieved by performing a few simple exercises. MDT allows the patient to control their pain effectively at home without having to wait until their next in office treatment to feel better.  Mckenzie is a reproducible assessment and treatment that puts the patient in charge.  Patients have a 85% chance of overcoming their pain with a positive assessment. By performing a few exercises, the patient is able to combat the pain they are in due to injury, daily work, stress, and poor ergonomics.

Soft Tissue Techniques

Everyday life puts you into positions that aren't ideal for your posture and its supporting soft tissue infrastructure. Maybe your work space is not physically comfortable. Maybe you are juggling your kids and all of their accessories throughout the day. Maybe you are sore when you wake up in the morning. Our muscles are instructed by the daily tasks that we assign to them, constantly providing mobility and stability to support our activities.  Dr. Van Wagner utilizes several specialized techniques that can alleviate muscle pain including Post Isometric Relaxation (PIR), Active Release Technique (ART), Hypervolt percussion technology and others when the soft tissues are contributing to your condition,

ShockwaveTherapy

Our Shockwave Therapy device utilizes the latest technology to deliver an acoustic pulse to the injured lesion that can remodel and decrease scar tissue in the area. This is accomplished by utilizing sound waves five hundred times stronger than ultrasound to stimulate our bodies natural healing capabilities and reduce inflammation. Multiple studies have shown that noninvasive Shockwave therapy had comparable or better results than steroid injection for chronic conditions such as tennis elbow, plantar fasciitis and rotator cuff tendinitis.

Exercise Rehabilitation

Many times, using manual therapy for your pain provides immediate relief, but not long lasting relief. As a compliment to the modalities listed above, we use therapeutic exercises for every region of the body to promote the stabilization of your newly found mobility and range of motion. These exercises will strengthen your body and foster endurance in the muscles that support you in your everyday tasks. Performing exercise along with a healthy lifestyle can prevent future exacerbations and create a more resilient body.

Laser Therapy

Cold Laser Therapy is an FDA approved treatment for joint pain and various strains and sprains. This therapy utilizes a process called photobiomodulation to increase the cell's energy content, increase hemoglobin concentration in the area, and increase nitric oxide concentration. This leads to faster healing and cell regeneration. The patient will experience a soothing warmth during this treatment, with no pain or discomfort expected. Most patients notice immediate pain relief after a single treatment, and many will see full resolution after 6-8 treatments.
